Underground Safety Alliance
(USA) was incorporated in November 2005, as a not for profit umbrella
organization for “Call Before You Dig” one call centers.
The founding members were Kentucky Underground Protection Inc. (KUPI),
now known as Kentucky811, and Indiana Underground Plant Protection
Service Inc. (IUPPS) now known as Indiana811. The Board of Directors
is comprised of three members from the Boards of Directors of each
of the participating states. The By-Laws and accounting structure
were formed in such a way as to allow other one call organizations
to join in the future.
Our significant commitment to the damage prevention
industry is critical to offering the best possible services at a
fair and reasonable cost to your membership. Additionally, Membership
in the appropriate state One-Call Center is a baseline activity
requirement of RP 1162 for operators of distribution, gathering,
and transmission pipeline facilities. More specifically, RP 1162’s
Chapter 2.4.2 recognizes the One-Call Center’s role in developing
public awareness information materials and its ability to gather
extensive information about excavation contractors.” We certainly
feel we can help enhance your state’s efforts in this area.
